Yeah, I know we look cute in those hard hats and Glo-orange vests, but that safety equipment was hard-core. Witness Jen modeling the emergency respirator strapped to a utility belt. I'm proudly wearing my L.A. River Ride shirt for the occasion. We're posing in front of photos of the tunnel shaft and the LOVAT tunnel-boring machine (TBM) we would travel a mile underground to meet.

Before descending the tunnel shaft, Jen and I are getting all connoisewer at the humongous concrete slabs used to support the tunnel, almost 11 feet in diameter.
