Qu’ils mangent… du gâteau?

Gordon and Maddy were recently invited to a birthday party for the lovely lady Trinity– hats, cake, the whole shebang for this shindig. Well, I backed myself up against a deadline and couldn’t be bothered to fetch them for the fete, but the generous hostess Kim forgave my party poopiness and insisted on doggie-bagging some cake for me to take home. Pedestrian Saga Presents Let Them Eat Cake!

Maddy waits for the word Gordon waits for the word
Cake is served, and Maddy and Gordon wait for the word. Note the desperate impatience in Gordon’s expression.

And she's off! And he's off!
And they’re off!

*gulp* Gordon cleans his plate
Gordon doesn’t eat; he gulps. And then pins the plate to lick it clean.

Maddy happy après gâteau Gordon grins après gâteau
All smiles après gâteau. Merci beaucoup, Kim and Trinity!

Gordon’s post-fete smile says it all. Great photos! Sheena always had strawberry shortcake for her birthday, which she ate with gusto, except for her last celebration. When she turned 14, Sheena refused the yearly shortcake and held out for filet. Clever lass! Give your children hugs from Aunt Mary!!!

Wow! You’re a much nicer dog mommy than I am! It’s tough love at my house; no people plates, no people food! Oscar relishes a popcorn night when he can eagerly watch the floor below the sofa as we silly humans miss our mouths, stuff-stuff. He knows better than to beg for my vittles! Grrr!

  3. Aunt Mary! I thought you might relate. Wish my lousy snapshots could begin to approach your Sheena portraits!

    L. Claude, it depends on who you ask. My mum thought it tyrannical the way I make them stay down before each meal and wait for permission to snarf. And no people food allowed (except certain kitchen floor droppings, true)! This cake, though it sure looked tasty, was a special doggie cake (from Three Dog Bakery, I believe). Benevolent dictator, maybe?

Hi honey – your dogs are cute – Maddy is getting so big!
They are patient – my kids stuffed their mouths faster.
I think Steve even tried to eat the plate.

Bravo! Hooray for dog bisquit cake and hooray for a pair of precious pooches patiently posing in pulchritudinous pictures. Purely priceless!
