Long live legumes! Before heading out to an evening of good ol’ country music, I spent last Sunday afternoon making three kinds of soup: split pea (best), cumin-spiced lentil barley (not nearly as yummy but all right), and garbanzo beans with garlic and mint (very close second). Freezer is packed with single servings enough to keep me for a month.
Mmmm, its not too often that I find someone else who shares a passion for split pea soup. For all those nose wrinklers out there I have one question: What planet did your taste buds come from??? If I recall, Bob used to be a bit shall I say ‘hesitant’ with things like this. Have you won him over to see the light of the legume?
I, too, enjoy a good bowl of split pea soup. The garlicky garbanzo bean concoction also sounds pretty tasty. Though a fan of most varieties, I’m especially fond of those fattening cream soups, and I like soup with some texture and a little "kick" to it. Keep cooking, baby!
